I contacted Steve some months ahead of a Christmas trip to Durango to ask if my two boys could see his forge in action. He was responsive and said to contact him closer to visit time, which we did. He agreed to meet on our schedule, and not only showed his forge, but also led both boys through forging a small item themselves. Very attentive. Very good at teaching. And very knowledgeable about smithing and pleased to answer questions about it. A wonderful ambassador for the craft, and a very kind and accommodating man. It was Christmas week, and he insisted that the morning that he spent with us was a Christmas gift and refused payment.
